'I grew up in Nigeria, so Ankara is water to me. I love its vibrant colours and its unique self, it makes me feel African and proud. I wear it as a scarf, as a top, as a skirt, in anyway possible. That's how versatile it is!'

Introduce yourself!

I am Whitney Madueke - YouTuber, Model and Public Speaker.I grew up in Nigeria till about 18 years of age then moved to England to study Law, I graduated an moved back to Nigeria to finish law school. Earning the privilege to be called to The Bar, awarding me the title of Barrister and Solicitor of The Supreme Court of Nigeria. After fulfilling this career path, I moved to NYC to study Fashion Design at Parsons and follow my true dream of becoming a Fashion Designer. Through my law path, I put my interest in fashion and the creative world into my modeling, youtube and various opportunities. Right now, living in NYC is really trying to fulfill goals I've set for myself for such a long time and sharing that journey on my different platforms in different ways.

Girl! You're well travelled and well educated, you've done so much at such a young age, it's inspirational. How did your blogging journey being?

I like the idea of being in front of the camera and sharing different things about me, I dont write but make youtube videos relating to hair, beauty and fashion.

So you're a vlogger, exciting! As a budding fashion enthusiast, how would you describe your style?

My style is still transforming but I would like to think its chic with a bit of avant-garde.

I can definitely see that from your outfit choices. The question is...heels or flats?

Heels all the way!

Welcome to #TeamHeels! It excites me to see you featuring Ankara prints on your social media, how did this come about?

It's home. It's life. I grew up in Nigeria, so Ankara is water to me. I love its vibrant colours and its unique self, it makes me feel African and proud. I wear it as a scarf, as a top - with or without a shirt underneath, as a skirt... in anyway possible. That's how versatile it is.XL

I know exactly what you mean, Ankara is true beauty to me. What challenges have you faced on your journey so far?

Trying to grow your audience and really capture your true essence in a way thats unique to a world full of saturated replicated things.

Paris, London, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana and LA- I would travel to explore beauty in its different forms.

Looking at the achievements already under your belt, I know you're gonna keep pushing and growing in 2018. What has been your greatest achievement this year? Any plans?

I booked a modeling gig with a huge platform I've admired for such a while! As for the rest of the year, finish school and continue the hustle of being self-employed but with better stability.

That's super exciting, looking forward to seeing more. If you could go anywhere in the world, (although it seems you've already been everywhere,) where would you go and why?

Paris, London, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana and LA- I would travel to explore beauty in its different forms.
