Black Owned Hair Care - Eden to Eden #Featured

Kia, We are so excited to be featuring your brand Eden to Eden today, tell us all about it!

Eden to Eden started off as a Natural Hair Product brand but has transitioned into so much more. Before entering into motherhood I knew that I would never be happy using cheap products full of chemicals for my child's sensitive skin. I was disgusted by the marketing ploy of big companies portraying their children's products as helpful and even organic but in reality selling products that are full of chemicals. That is why I developed the Perfecty Pure children's range. Last year, I also started a Natural Skincare Range. So in a nut shell, Eden to Eden makes and sells: Natural Hair, Baby and Skincare Products.

That's amazing. The best brands always seem to come from our experiences. We are intrigued by the brand name - Eden to Eden? Where did it come from? What is the inspiration behind it?

Eden is mentioned at the beginning of the Bible in Genesis and was the ideal, the original plan, perfection. At the end of the world the Bible states in Revelation that things will return to the ideal, the original plan, perfection and that's how I feel about being natural. I wanted to return to the ideal, to the original plan. Eden to Eden: Perfection to Perfection.

I can totally relate to God inspiring the name of your brand as our brand name Asikara actually means Created by God with fabric in a nutshell.

I know your brand has evolved over the years but it started with you wanting to celebrate being natural. What has your natural hair journey been like?

Natural hair had been so negative in my eyes for 20+ years and thanks to the natural hair movement, I was able to re-educate my way of thinking. Natural hair is not only beautiful but something that we are born with, perfection and I wanted to help others see their natural beauty by creating products that encourage healthy hair. I didn't want young girls growing up thinking that they have to fit in to society's hair beauty standards by applying chemicals to get straight looking hair. I want them to know and believe that they are beautiful.

My goals are to keep learning, because when we believe we know everything there is to know about a topic, that is where we fail.

We are so glad you are an advocate for natural beauty, it's not celebrated enough and we are inspired by what you are doing. How have you been coping with the lockdown, especially as a business? What challenges have you faced?

Lockdown has been challenging for Eden to Eden because of my MS (multiple sclerosis). I was automatically put in the high risk category and was advised to stay indoors before everything went to lockdown. That meant with every order posted I would be putting myself at high risk of COVID19. As a family we made the decision to stop regular deliveries and only honour subscriptions from my loyal, regular customers. However, I was gifted a label printer (,as we don't have a printer), so that I would be able to print my labels and arrange a courier service so that I can still ship products without leaving my house.

Another challenge lockdown has brought is my fatigue is really overpowering. Usually my boys are in nursery part-time and that allows me to have extra sleep and to make products without any interruptions. With nurseries being closed, I have two very boisterous three year olds round the clock and it is intense. It's so great to spend more time with them, however, being switched on all the time is exhausting and my body/brain isn't able to get respite.

You are a strong, amazing individual and we are grateful for your services especially considering the circumstances! On a plus note, what is one thing you can't wait to do when this is all over?

To be honest, I am really looking forward to resting and being free to go to the post office.

That made me laugh, the small joys of a business owner, post office runs! Do you have any goals for this year? What would you say is your biggest achievement to date?

My goals are to keep learning, because when we believe we know everything there is to know about a topic, that is where we fail.

I would say my biggest achievement to date is designing my own skincare labels as well as redesign the Eden2Eden website.

You are the definition of #GirlBoss! You have really inspired us throughout this blog post but we are intrigued, who or what inspires you?

I had to think about this one in depth because I don't think it's a person. It's qualities in a person that really inspire me. Someone who can take an idea and work really hard on it and bring it to fruition. Someone who is always thinking about how to improve their craft. It can be really lonely out there and support is often limited. People, that despite the difficulties and challenges manage to get things done. That's what I genuinely find really inspirational.

Love that! We see all those things in you too honestly. We always like to have a little fun with our featured posts so tell us what is one thing our readers would be surprised to hear about you?

I am fluent in Swedish. I lived there for 10 years, age 9-19.

That blew me away, I never know what people are going to say, I have so many more questions about Sweden, i'll have to ask you later! Before you go what tip can you leave with us?

Always be honest, kind and true to yourself.

Simple, great advice. Thanks so much Kia, we have loved featuring you on our blog. Last of all where can we find out more about your brand and of course get your products?
