A Bloggers Journey - Enhance The Individual

'When you truly start believing in your capabilities amazing things will start to happen in your life.'

Introduce yourself!

My name is Etinosa J. Ogbevoen. I'm 24 years and originally from St. Louis, MO I currently reside in Kansas City. I'd describe myself as bubbly, quirky and charismatic. I created Enhance The Individual September 2013 thinking that it would strictly be a fashion blog but as time went on I realized that that wasn't where my voice natural went. I still loved clothes but what I wanted Enhance to be was a place where people were inspired and encouraged to rise to the next level in all aspects of their lives. It's taken me some time to figure it all out but I'm happy with where ENAHNCE is today.

Blogging is definitely a journey in itself, why did you start blogging?

Before Enhance I had another blog with a friend, it was more just an instagram account and eventually I realized I wanted something on my own and that's when I started blogging. I realized a had a lot to say and to be honest I thought it was cool to have a blog.

Looks like that was a great decision! Who would you say inspires you?

Great question. All successful black people inspire me! my friends are probably my biggest inspiration. I have friends who are editors, who are coo's, business owners, writers and the list goes on and on. The best part of having my friends inspire me is that i can talk to them whenever. I can pick their brains and bounce ideas off of them. We can have long conversations about blogging and new business ideas and leveling up but also have conversations about men, makeup, and the latest celebrity drama.

It's great to have a network of friends that support your vision. Tell us, what has been your greatest achievement to date?

Starting my podcast last year is my greatest achievement. It took me a long time to figure out how to add my personality to my blog and with my podcast I'm able to put my physical voice out there unfiltered and unedited and it feels amazing. Y'all should check it out. You can find on Sound Cloud : Enhance The Individual

Wow, thats awesome, i'll be sure to check it out. If there were no limits and you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I would go to Lagos, Nigeria. One because I'm Nigerian. Two, the fashion there is something unique, creative and speaks to my soul. Three, I've also wanted to experience what it would be like to live that lifestyle. Something different than what I get here in the Midwest.

If you ever do go, be sure to bring us back some fabric! Your blog started off with fashion, so how would you describe your style?

Where do I begin! I wear what I feel like wearing, when i feel like wearing it. There are days where I want to be afro-centric,days where I want to be a minimalist, days where I try to mix prints and colors. Ultimately, I'd describe my style as clean and put together. It doesn't matter what I'm wearing as long as it fits my body properly, goes together seamlessly and makes me feel good.

Fave quote: "Today you are you, that is truer than true. There's no one alive that is youer than you." - Dr. Seuss

Beautiful quote. What challenges has blogging brought?

I think the biggest challenge of blogging is consistency and figuring out how to grow your following. It's hard sometime to come up with something creative and original all the time. Sometimes it's just not there and those are the times when it's hard to be consistent. Being a blogger is different than having a Youtube channel. With blogging people can only read your words and nowadays everything is so fast paced that people would rather watch a video or have it playing in the background as they do other things. It's been hard writing post thinking that no one is reading it but at the same time thinking that you don't really want to start a YouTube channel.

Like your quote says, just be yourself, i'm glad you've not given up on your dreams. We have to ask, heels or flats?

A chunky heel all day everyday! But nothing ridiculously high.

YES! They're so comfortable. Before you go please leave us with a tip or some words of wisdom.

Believe in everything about yourself. I can guarantee you when you TRULY start believing in your capabilities amazing things will start to happen in your life.
